Proctor Cycling Classic

Overall Team Tazi / Exelon had a good weekend. The weather was great and the new team kits were a big hit. Lots of interest about the team, and Tazi bottles.

The Road Race was 24 miles with rolling hills and some flats. Flat tires were everywhere; someone had put tacks out on the course. No Team Tazi members got flats. When the group split we had a team member in the front group. With 2k to go there was a crash and Chip was right behind it, but he didn't go down. He made a chase back after being slowed by the crash and finished 22nd. He had a great day but a little bad luck at the end.

The Criterium Race was in the downtown area of Peoria. A fast wide course with 1 small climb before the finishing straight. The race started fast and stayed that way, until on the backside of the course as I came around a corner and found Fire Trucks on the course. It was about 100 meters after I went past them before I figured out what was going on. A false alarm in a building on the inside the course brought them there. After a 15 minute delay the race was restarted. With a 9 man lead group given a 15 second head start. Everyone in the second group was working to bring them back, but too much time and too few laps to get it done. Chip who was having a great weekend. Did a great job of leading me out for a 11th place. With Chip and Brad finishing in 14th and 15th.

Proctor was a very nicely ran race. Will definitely by there next year.
